Domaine Saladry is approximately 200 years old. It was a working farmhouse or "longeur" until the 1980s. The Domaine is set within 32 acres of farmland but we purchased the 7.5 acres of land immediately surrounding us in December 2012.
Originally the farmers lived in the section of the house we have made our home.
We saw the Domaine in the summer of 2012 whilst doing some holiday inspired window shopping for a dream french home. The house hadn't been lived in for 4 years and whilst it looked a bit unloved, we could immediately see the potential to turn it into a wonderful space to share with other people. The grounds were a bit neglected but had wonderful mature trees and planting; the calm atmosphere was amazing, the surrounding views of the Black Mountains and the Pyrenees were staggering.
Renovations started in 2013 and we have set out to create stylish and comfortable accommodation; capturing the traditional charm of a 200 year old French Farmhouse with modern luxurious facilities.
We live and work at the Domaine alongside our guests and have created the holiday experience that we ourselves love to have. We have had really positive feedback from the families who have stayed and these can be found on Trip Advisor and Owners Direct. We genuinely welcome any feedback that will make a stay more enjoyable for any future guests.
Whilst guests are staying at the Gites, we will be happy to help with any queries you have about places to visit, suggested itineraries or tours. We have many local maps and guides on hand for you to borrow. We will be delighted to help you with any aspect of your holiday. We also have plenty of books and board games that can be borrowed - all we ask is that you look after them.
So if you choose to book your holidays at the Domaine or return for another visit, then all that is left to say is welcome! We hope you enjoy being here as much as we do!
