Approximately an hour away are the famous Pyrenean mountains - stretching 450kms from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean Sea. The highest peaks include the Pic du midi with must see views from the observatory accessible by cable car. Experience the hairpin bends of the famous Tour de France mountain stages or visit Europes biggest waterfall at the cirque du Gavarnie. For the less energetic ride on the Train Jaune across the Pyrenees.
A World Heritage site stretching 241 km from Bordeaux to the Mediterranean coast, there is plenty to enjoy connected to the canal: hire a boat, cycle or walk along stretches of the canal. The Villepinte canal rest stop is only 0.7 km from the Domaine.

Discover the world you've experienced in those gripping books by author Kate Mosse. Walk the ramparts, or simply stroll round the Citadel. Visit the shops in the Bastide - market day cannot be missed. The art gallery and museum also holds regular exhibitions. Take a canal boat trip or simply enjoy eating and drinking in many of the cafes and restaurants in the city.

Just an hour away from the domaine, you can discover the white sandy beaches of the Med coast - from Cap D'Agde through Narbonne and Perpignan, down to the charming fishing village of Coullioure. You can relax on the beach, take in a boat trip or visit the galleries showing the artists attracted to the light on this part of the coast

Whilst many people visit in the summer, the Domaine is not far from snow capped mountains in the winter. For the adventurous, the nearest ski slopes of the Ariege (10 Ski Stations including Ax Trois Domaines) are about 45 mins away. Andorra is approximately 1 1/4 hours away and is a fabulous way to spend a winters day both tax free shopping and skiing. A lot of local towns and villages hold Noel and truffle markets before Christmas and can be a great way to spend a few hours
